Don't know anything about him, and doubt it's us.
Our recruiting is wrapped up I'm pretty sure.

I'm reading on another footy page Templeton
Do they mean he's back with us or give back to centrals

Is Nick O'Brien free (for the Eagles) from all the Essendon player bans?

Re Templeton, it will be a loss to the Eagles depth if he goes. Did nothing wrong when given League chances and performed strongly in the Seconds. If he's playing for Centrals in 2016, (his) decision may well come back to hurt us.

Yes he's free from the bans but has been listed as equal favorite to be picked up by Essendon as a top up...this would be absolute garbage as we have turned away players due to salary cap restrictions that have now been picked up elsewhere...what a joke

Yes, losing O'Brien would put our 2016 planning in tatters.
The ex-Brisbane Bears midfielder recruit that Westies announced 2 days ago sounds handy and the Eagles, if their salary cap and finances weren't used up, could have made a play for him.  Would be a few nervous Eagles recruitment officials at the moment through no fault of their own. Hopefully, the luck will run our way.

How is Port Power going to replace Monfries and Ryder? Do they have to replace from their rookie list or can they also go outside - if they can go outside, then Jarrad Redden and Petrenko might be at risk, though unlikely.

What a mess for Essendon,  a couple of other AFL Clubs and possibly several SANFL Clubs!!!

Yep and without Rowntree our midfield looks pretty sick....Essendon supporters are also mentioning Petrenko Redden and Giles....

Just spotted on the SANFL site a Player Nic Yarran mentioned. He's U18 and from Darwin and it mentions he may play first team. Anyone know much about him. Any info on Boyd's injury. It does not mention him.

I heard that Boyd had signs of initial onset of op......but don't really know..that was a couple of months back

Looks like Templeton is training at Centrals so assuming he's gone....think it's probably a wise move as we have more than enough options down back

Re: Possible Ins For 2016

heres from the SANFL site

WOODVILLE-WEST TORRENS

Track Burners – Nick Hayes, Angus Poole, Phil Raymond

Gym Junkies – Matt Appleton, Jake Von Bertouch, Marc Borholm

Casualty Ward – Star forward Michael Wundke has been restricted after having surgery on his shoulder but is expected to be fit for Round 1. Wundke has been running but is yet to test his upper body in match simulation. Veteran midfielder Scott Lewis has been hamstrung by Osteitis Pubis, so will be eased into running as Round 1 approaches while Giles Ellis has undergone wrist surgery which will see him fit for the premiership season.

The New Breed – Darwin product Nick Yarran has attracted the attention of coach Michael Godden on the training track with his sublime skills and game awareness. The small forward could play senior football this year but is still eligible for the Macca’s Cup U18 competition. Midfielder Joe Sinor hasn’t put a foot wrong during summer as he presses his claims for a regular league berth. Sinor has added noticeable size to his body and has improved his ball efficiency at training.

After the Eagles first internal trial/scratch match just before Christmas, Scott Lewis mentioned to me that there was a young indigenous lad that blew everyone away with his pace and skill... didn't catch his name at the time, but must be young Yarran.

Assume it was Yarran in the pictures posted on Facebook last week, he looks quick in still shots!

I watched the youngster Yarran playing Eagles U18s on 3 occasions last year. From St Marys Football Club,NT and ? whether he's related to Nick Yarran of Carlton. Then, at 16 years, was youngest in our U!8s.
Showed poise, skills and speed, reminiscent of a young Daniel Pearce (Sturt/Power/Fremantle). Very lightly built and, in 2015, looked to be 2 years and at least 7kg away from pressing for league selection.
Good on him! From the reports, it sounds like he's surged ahead over the pre-Season to put his name right up there.

More importantly, how is Jarrad Redden looking in pre-Season training?

I believe Nick O'Brien has gone back to Essendon of his own accord to try and make one of the twelve positions up for grabs. If not selected, will be back at the Eagles.
This could be an absolute dissaster for the Eagles. On ball unit very thin.

What a mess...even with O'brien our midfield looks thin..how are we going to compete with the AFL Teams not to mention West who have improved their midfield after smashing us in the GF and Norwood and Centrals who have added key players...urggh

Yeah, I agree. We can't be seen to be holding him back but this will hurt us. I wonder what the contract is worth. I hope the compensation is good.

Compensation is only to cover costs of getting him but that only puts us back to having the same midfield as last year minus Rowntree and decreased output  from Lewis (osteitis pubis) against other teams who have IMPROVED on their 2015 midfield.
BUT
we haven't lost O'Brien yet and we've dodged 2 bullets (Crowley and Jamie Kelly). You would think that if Nick O'Brien was high in tEssendon's choices, they would sign him up immediately because, having him for 4 years, they know what he brings to the table. More likely, they want him training in the unlikely event that other deals fall through. Of course if he picks up 37 possessions in a couple of internal pre-season trials that might change things. But ? rate his chances 70:30 of being in a WWTFC guernsey for 2016.

May have just gone to get his own accord, the Honda version perhaps

I've read on another forum a post by an Eagles fan
O'Brien is back training
Luke Thonpson said no to Essendon
Redden is not likely to go to the Power as a rookie ruckman
If all this is true ill go yippee all day long

Sturt Vs Eagles trial last night.
Scores don't matter (about 10 goals each).
Both Sturt and Eagles senior players the first half. Sturt's ball movement, both presenting and kicking skills were far superior and they looked sharper. Second half the Eagles 2nd tier players dominated.

Veteran Luke Jarrad clearly our best with James Boyd also very good. There was a strongly built 191cm forward (number  37)  who could be OK. Wundke and Ainger didn't play.
Backline key position players looked new - no Templeton, no Rakaiwasa, no Von Bertouch and Luke Thompson played up forward. Backline did OK (Jake Summerton)
Ainger (on the sidelines) looks to have put on 7kg from last season and hopefully it's muscle!
Was looking for a standout performance from O'Brien and if he was No18 (no footy budget/names available) his form was poor ... but early days.
Redden played full forward 1st Q (didn't do much there) but had a better 2nd Q in the ruck and also kicked a long goal). Bornholm bored in hard as usual. Realise how bereft of ruckman Eagles are when nobody (bar Ainger) looked to be within 8cm of Redden's height. Redden certainly very important to the Eagles chances this year.
However Sturt did dominate at ground level out of the centre in the first half with Boyd being our only A class contributor there. Couldn't identify new recruit Giles.
With 7 weeks before the season, good hitout to know where we're at and you would hope that the same personel will be playing much better footy then
