Anyone know the status of Fraser Thurlow. His name does not appear on Eagles website injured list.

Good win by Eagles - more of a grafting victory with only a few of the brilliant passages of play of the last 2 weeks (a notable one was the goal in the last Q set up by brilliant handball through heavy traffic deep in the backline). Port seemed to hold us up better and our skill level with precision kicking was just a little off in the first half.
Big plaudits for Bornholm's effort for greatly reducing Redden's effectiveness coupled with superb efforts by the onballers, Petrenko, Boyd and Rowntree in particular. Nick Hayes played a better game this week - looks better up forward; doesn't yet find the ball enough as a midfielder but improving.
Good signs for the Eagles was the even effort. Thought our backline was excellent. Thompson still makes clangers with foot skills but he, Rakawasi and Guifreda provide real closing speed on opposition and then run the ball out.
In the Seconds, Allmond looks "cherry ripe" for a recall but how can we drop any of our performing "smalls" at present?
Well done. Now, that we've knocked over the "big wigs", have to ensure we don't let it slip with the likes of Glenelg and Co.

That handball through the pack was sensational.
Even though the first half and particularly the second quarter wasn't flash it was probably a sign of how much the team has grown this year, last year it would have been game over at half time but  today the pressure was still evident and after some adjustments at half time the belief was there and away they went.
Another great win for the twos by 101 points after only being 22 points up at half time, then only 10 points up at about the 5 min mark of the 3rd after Port kicked the first 2 goals, looked like some of the opposition were a bit disinterested by the start of the last quarter and our boys seemed to feed off it and kicked 6 in the first 12 minutes.

I was there and I am still in shock/awe 1 goal to half time . And we come out winners
Bornholm on Redden really worked him over , I do feel for Redden carried off in the last term.
Those midfielders after half time amazing .
Amazing come form behind mark and then goal to rowntree .
Hayes up forward was better .
Loved the fight back Port fans were laughing in the third then we came back . and Macgregors goal

Sorry Peeps I'm still in shock

it's great that the second tier players are standing up and we are not relying on a few players to win games.

When a ruckman can keep both Redden and Balderstone to 4 and 8 possessions around the ground and get eleven and 12 himself mitigating both opponents rolls in what I think is the best three weeks of footy that we have played in a long time then perhaps it's about time that we stop bagging our players and coaches and get on with encouraging them. I for one am getting tired of the same old record week after week singing the praises of doom and gloom get over the lack of football knowledge and get behind the team and who know you all might have some fun on our journey . Borholm is doing a tremendous job for us so stop thinking he is going to be flogged every week what does the guy have to do to get your respect go eagles

It's not just Borholm its all the players They are all doing a great job but I singled him out because it doesn't seem to matter how hard he works on the field the same people always undervalue what he does in a game ( forget the hit out tally the statastitions alway get that wrong ) I'll say to all you go out every week and get slammed into for 2 hours and see if you can stand let alone keep running and tackling and blocking and yes he is a good bloke to boot were lucky to have the people we have they are all great guys Just sayin

Tom Schwarz is another one who seems to have become a whipping boy, his games against Norwood and Port were very good IMO, seems to have taken on Powelly's role of being at the bottom of most of the packs.

Good signs

Post by Gazz on Mon May 04, 2015 6:18 pm

After round 1 I thought here we go again-fragile when challenged as has been the case for 2-3 years now. Happy to say i'm wrong and the belief is there between coach and players. The job is to now keep the application consistent over the season as the plan works when adhered to. a step in the right direction. Go Eagles

Have just done my Poty votes. Would like to have given 10 votes to Port runner who was never off the ground.  What I saw on Saturday was definitely coaching & very reminiscent of another Port runner of 'by gone days', of course, no reaction from the 3 men in white, sorry green!!!

He was in a yellowish green shirt too, probably thought he was one of them! Wasn't anything like the fluro yellow our runner was wearing.
Saw a VFL game on TV when i was in Melbourne a few weeks back, their umps wear fluro orange, should do the same here I think.

No doubt at all he was deliberately filling gaps, he was on the ground for very long periods. We all know who had good games but I was impressed with the way the second tier performed...Dunstan raw but presented strongly, same for Whittlesea, Poole has improved but has to keep doing it every week, Schwarz is becoming consistent, Martyn has also improved / toughened up, Bately has been ok. Good thing is there are excellent players in the reserves should any of these falter.
