Cheep and Banner MAJOR disappointments. Need all playing wekk to defeaet CD. McKenzie a worry, a shadow of his former self at the moment.
Grocke and Stewart out are having a major effect on us.
Miles any day over Gilhaus. Needs games in the seconds to learn the game.

Interesting piece about Ben Greiger in the Monday Morning Centreman article today on Adelaide Now. He and Scott Lewis have been great recruits for us this year.

Agree with comments regarding Mark McKenzie.
I don't know if he's still carrying an injury but I've been watching him since training started last November & it's not the McKenzie of old.
The one player we have definitely missed in the past two weeks is Adam Grocke & we still have another week without him.
Also agree we are missing Jimmy Stewart. Not sure whether we will have him for Norwood having seen him leave the track Wednesday night. Hopefully will learn more Wednesday night.

Eagles vs Central District

By Peter Argent

Sliding to its second successive defeat, Woodville-West Torrens weren’t able to drag back any early advantage Central District got on the scoreboard, going down in the end by 28 points at the Ponderosa.

The Bulldogs 14 point quarter time lead crept out 23 points at the main break.

Both sides kicked four goals in the third quarter, before the hosts edged away again in the last.

The Eagles did show some fight, getting to within eight points at one stage in the final term.

Coach Michael Godden explained a few silly errors early were helpful, and then Central District, in front of its own parochial crowd gained some momentum.

Scott Lewis continued to defy the critics, being the Eagles best player, in an ultra consistent start to the season for the former state Under 20’s captain and Riverland boy. “Lewie (Lewis) was used mainly in the centre and had another breakout game; I believe our stats people had him collecting 28 possessions,” Godden said.

In his second senior game in the blue, green and gold, Craig Parry had a great contest with Crows listed player Jonathan Griffin in ruck, while Scott Welsh and teenager Matthew Goldsworthy was dangerous in attack. Welsh kicked three goals and gave out a couple more. “Craig (Parry) controlled the rucks and we used Welshy in defence at times as well.

“ ‘Greigs’ beat a couple of opponents and ‘Goldy’ showed some heart to come back and perform like he did after spent a lot of the first quarter in the change rooms.”

Goldsworthy, after leaving the ground for stitches and needing to replace his jumper, kicked four goals (and one behind) across half forward.

Ben Grieger did a sterling job in the last line of defence, while evergreen veteran Justin Cicolella found the ball frequently and was creative with his use of it. “Cicca got a lot of inside balls and is a credit to himself in the way he continues to perform with that consistency.”

Other multiple goal kickers were South Clare export Nick Salter and another Mid North lad Stuart Hill. The Eagles rotations weren’t helped by the loss of Leigh Treeby in the first 10 minutes of the game with a hamstring tear.

For their round 10 fixture, Woodville West Torrens return to Woodville Oval on Sunday, May 30.

After the losses endured against Glenelg and the Bulldogs, this game, against the vastly improved Norwood combination becomes a must win game.
